largest and best known medicinal bath in Hungary. It has
a lake surface of 47,500 square metres and is the largest
lake with a peat base in the world. 80 million litres of
water gushes to the surface so that the entire lake is replenished
every 48 hours. The temperature of the lake in the summer
is a constant 33-34 degrees centigrade, while in the winter
it never falls below 26 degrees. The medicinal water has
a special curative effect on the different kinds of rheumatic,
muscular and nervous systems and disorders.
We would strongly recommend you take time to enjoy Lake
Balaton. You can sail, wind-surf, water-ski and, of course,
swim in the warm waters of the lake. There are daily ferry
excursions to all parts of the lake - what could be more
relaxing. There is also a cycle/walking route that now stretches
round the whole of the lake for the energetic.
